New Members abstruse Posted January 30, 2011 at 11:21 PM New Members Report Share Posted January 30, 2011 at 11:21 PM I have a friend who immigrated from China. Although she knows English pretty well, she often speaks Chinese when she can. She posted this: 我不相信爱有什么错?以前没真正爱过。现在也不在爱。我这种态度比随口说爱然后海誓山盟的人要诚实多了。什么诺言都是假的。什么我永远爱你。去死吧。 And I am having trouble deciphering what it means. Particularly the first two sentences. They just don't seem to fit for me, as a basic Chinese-learning student. Could you translate for me please? Also, sorry for the vulgar last-sentence. I kept it for it might help with context clues. skylee Posted January 31, 2011 at 04:01 AM Report Share Posted January 31, 2011 at 04:01 AM "What's wrong that I don't believe in love? I have not really loved before. I am not in love either. With this attitude I am much more honest than those people who just say love as they please and swear that their love will never die. All promises are false. To hell with "I will love you forever"."
ma3zi1 Posted January 31, 2011 at 04:06 AM Report Share Posted January 31, 2011 at 04:06 AM 我不相信爱有什么错? "What's wrong with me not believing in love?" 以前没真正爱过。 "(I) haven't genuinely loved before." 现在也不在爱。 "(And) as of now I'm still not in love (with anyone)." 我这种态度比随口说爱然后海誓山盟的人要诚实多了。 "My attitude toward love is way more serious than thoughtlessly throwing out 'I love you's and pledging one's undying love all over the place." 什么诺言都是假的。 "All promises are really just lies." 什么我永远爱你。去死吧。 "All that 'I'll love you forever' business is just crap, it can go to hell." Dang, skylee beat me to it!
