HSK information

Recommended Posts

I am an expat living in China, teaching English and studying Chinese. I'm hoping to take the HSK this year, but I've found it surprisingly difficult to figure out where to start.

I know there is an "old" HSK and a new one. Will the old one be administered in 2011, or has it been abolished? Is there a central website with information about the tests? I Googled "New HSK" and got this site:

http://www.chinesetesting.cn

but the site returned an error. Does anyone know where I can find test dates?

Thanks for the help.

Information below from: Dates for Chinese Tests-2011

[source]HANBAN [ Date of issue]Dec 11, 2010

Mar. 13th (Sun.) Level I-VI

Apr. 9th (Sat.) Level I-VI

May 22nd (Sun.) Level I-VI +Speaking Test

Jun. 26th (Sun.) Level I-VI

Jul. 24th (Sun.) Level I-VI

Sep. 4th (Sun.) Level I-VI

Oct. 23rd (Sun.) Level I-VI +Speaking Test

Dec. 4th (Sun.) Level I-VI +Speaking Test

These must be the dates inside China, as the exam dates in the UK are different. For example at SOAS in London they are Saturday 21st May and Saturday 15th October.

It might be worth starting from the other end of the process and going to local universities likely to be running tests, and seeing what they're offering, and when.

Thanks for the information and good suggestion. There aren't any "local" universities where I am that would hold the exam, because where I'm living is too remote, but I'll start digging for schools in Xi'an or Beijing and see if I can find anything about scheduling.

Thanks again.
