Valeria Posted February 24, 2011 at 11:20 AM Report Share Posted February 24, 2011 at 11:20 AM 大家好! My name is valeria, I'm plannig to study in Cina for at least a year, and I'm trying to create my chinese name. I really want to find a name that suits me the best since I think I'll use it a lot in my future, so I don't want it to be goofy or ordinary. My italian first name means wealth and strenght, but I think that these qualities are more related to a male name, so I've been thinking using these meanings for my surname instead of my name: what about 金? any other suggestion? For my proper name I realli like 柳 (it's my favourite tree) but I can't find any character to add to it (I'd like to have a 2 char. name). I'd like an original name that doesn't sound too girlish and maybe related to water, my favourite element, or music. I know I'm quite exigent but chossing my chinese name is very important to me Thank you all!

David Wong Posted February 24, 2011 at 02:45 PM Report Share Posted February 24, 2011 at 02:45 PM How about 钱柳吟? 钱 contains the gold radical. 柳 you already know about. 吟 is a type of classical poetry that can also be a song.
Valeria Posted June 3, 2011 at 04:39 PM Author Report Share Posted June 3, 2011 at 04:39 PM I thought about 田溦丽 is it a possible name in chinese? 溦 isn't that common, it means drizzle, light rain..
skylee Posted June 4, 2011 at 01:32 AM Report Share Posted June 4, 2011 at 01:32 AM It sounds pretty good. Picturesque and poetic. And it is feminine. People who don't know that you are not Chinese might ask you if it was raining when you were born.
Valeria Posted June 4, 2011 at 03:19 PM Author Report Share Posted June 4, 2011 at 03:19 PM I asked the same question in another blog and that's one of the answers: "It is possible for a name, except that I don't know what the second character means. I have never seen it before. And I am pretty sure 99% of my fellow countrymen have not either. By the way, 溦丽 (weili) does not sound as good as it looks because its homophones include 威力, which means power and thus not good for a girl." Is really the character 溦 that unknown? I liked it so much
Kiz Posted June 4, 2011 at 08:05 PM Report Share Posted June 4, 2011 at 08:05 PM How about 田柔荑(rou2yi2)? 柔荑 literally means burgeons of couch grass. But it's always used as a simile of female fingers. It's a very beautiful word. It's from an ancient poetry named 《诗经》and commonly used as girl's name now.
