But regardless of whether there are other "gay sites" I can use (LOL), the fact that they block the word "gay" is a tad interesting, don't you think? I'm not surprised 同志 isn't blocked, as most mainland Chinese don't use it to mean "gay" that often. As for homosexual and lesbian, I'm not surprised either -- most Chinese people probably don't know what these words mean. The Chinese government obviously doesn't want people searching for gay stuff on Youku -- this is a country that is increasingly coming to resemble Lee Kuan Yew's Singapore with its noxious "Asian values". Check similar keywords on baidu and various portals or microblogs and see what happens. The block on Youku could just be a hamfisted way of dealing with spam or unsuitable content.
