yinzi Posted March 4, 2011 at 04:55 AM Report Posted March 4, 2011 at 04:55 AM hello there! i think i am in the correct thread, but if not, please redirect me to the right one! anyways, i'm native chinese, and after a long period of petulance at learning chinese, i'm finally seeing the light. i'm wondering if someone could point me to any threads on heritage learners (as i'm sure there are). my main focus is on reading and writing, as i'm decent at reading and writing, but anything would be greatly appreciated; i'm not entirely sure how to navigate these boards yet. additionally, if there are any links, information, or advice you greatly endorse, i'd love to see those, too. thank you! jbradfor Posted March 4, 2011 at 04:16 PM Report Posted March 4, 2011 at 04:16 PM Welcome! To find other threads, try searching for "heritage" in the search box in the upper left of each page. Doing that, I found this thread, for example, which discusses a text book aimed at heritage speakers, which might interest you. In general, to improve reading, I think most people here would recommend learning vocabulary using a SRS-based flashcard program until your vocabulary reaches "a certain level", and then read read read. We have threads on recommended comics and books for reading practice. For writing, there is a lot of debate on how useful a skill it is to learn. However, if you choose to, there is a great (paid) web site called skritter.com that people seem to like. Quote
