zenfeedbacker Posted March 5, 2011 at 08:17 PM Report Posted March 5, 2011 at 08:17 PM I want to know what all the red ink says if possible, cheers Quote
jbradfor Posted March 7, 2011 at 07:25 PM Report Posted March 7, 2011 at 07:25 PM The lower left (in the square) is 安苒妮. I assume it's a name, so I'm not sure what translation you want. Quote
renzhe Posted March 7, 2011 at 08:21 PM Report Posted March 7, 2011 at 08:21 PM The parts in red ink are seals identifying the artist. The bottom one is 安苒妮, which looks like the artist's name. I can't read the upper one, it's in seal script, but like jbradfor says, I don't expect any deep meaning in it. Quote
skylee Posted March 7, 2011 at 10:41 PM Report Posted March 7, 2011 at 10:41 PM I can't read the upper one, it's in seal script, but like jbradfor says, I don't expect any deep meaning in it. I think it is "高寓于平", from 菜根譚. Very roughly it means that the most difficult things come from/can be found in the easiest/simpliest things (don't ask me to explain, since the meaning is pretty deep for me). Quote
renzhe Posted March 7, 2011 at 11:03 PM Report Posted March 7, 2011 at 11:03 PM That is deep indeed. I guess I was expecting it to be a company name, or the emperor's reign or similar, like you often find on ceramics. Quote
David Wong Posted March 8, 2011 at 08:14 PM Report Posted March 8, 2011 at 08:14 PM I'd like to offer my interpretation as: Some of what we value highly can be found in common places. Quote
