Ian_Lee Posted November 23, 2004 at 06:42 PM Author Report Posted November 23, 2004 at 06:42 PM Skylee: Is Basil really 金不換 in Chinese? Unlike HK's Vietnamese eateries, over here the Vietnamese restaurants are really authentic. For every bowl of Pho served, they serve a whole full plate of herbal leaves including freshly grown Basil. 金不換 is also used in Chaozhou cuisine which the chef deep-fries it. Quote

skylee Posted November 24, 2004 at 02:03 PM Report Posted November 24, 2004 at 02:03 PM Is Basil really 金不換 in Chinese? As far as I know (which is not much), basil is called 羅勒 in Chinese. But this is a general term, and there are many different types of basil. If you do a search you will see. I have read that 金不換 is one type of basil. Here is some information - 歐陽應霽[/size]]吃掉意大利羅勒蕃茄水牛乳酪涼拌 羅勒 國王與我 嘴越饞,就越覺日常飲食中香料的不可缺。 Some more -> 越南香叶:金不换 Quote
