zhouhaochen Posted March 17, 2011 at 10:35 AM Report Posted March 17, 2011 at 10:35 AM I have been told that no more visas can be issued for Indonesian Nationals by several agencies, including study or work visas, since the last people's congress. I have trouble believing it, but everyone gives the same information so far. Anyone has heard of this or knows a way out? Quote
roddy Posted March 17, 2011 at 01:48 PM Report Posted March 17, 2011 at 01:48 PM When you say agencies, do you mean slightly dubious visa agencies? That's quite possible, if there has been a spate of overstays by Indonesians a circular may have gone round the PSB telling them to pay particular attention to Indonesian applications, and so the agencies will be backing off to avoid scrutiny. Visas are likely still possible, but you need to go through completely legitimate channels, and conceivably back to Indonesia. Few years back I heard of the PSB paying a visit to Beijing universities, giving them a list of nationalities - mainly African or Middle East - and saying it'd be better not to enroll those students. Not that they couldn't do it, just that it would be . . . better. The universities are hardly in a position to ignore that. Quote
