felipe Posted March 24, 2011 at 05:25 AM Report Posted March 24, 2011 at 05:25 AM Hello everyone, I love Perapera-kun, but unfortunately it does not work on Firefox 4 (just released yesterday). Do you know any alternatives? I am aware of the desktop alternatives (from this Chinese-Forums' list), however I am looking for a Firefox plug-in. Thanks! Quote
Iriya Posted March 24, 2011 at 06:12 AM Report Posted March 24, 2011 at 06:12 AM Just use Firefox 3. There are no big changes in FF4, except for the more stylish interface. Quote
gato Posted March 24, 2011 at 09:49 AM Report Posted March 24, 2011 at 09:49 AM Install the Nightly Test Tools add-on, and you will be able to force compatibility for your add-ons. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nightly-tester-tools/ Nightly Tester Tools 3.1.2 Quote
felipe Posted March 24, 2011 at 11:45 AM Author Report Posted March 24, 2011 at 11:45 AM @gato: That worked. Thank you so much! Quote

cababunga Posted March 24, 2011 at 08:17 PM Report Posted March 24, 2011 at 08:17 PM If it's working anyway, we can just change version restriction in the packages and reinstall them. Here: Perakun2.1.1.xpi ChineseEnglishDictionary1.0.xpi Download both and install through menu File->Open File... Hope official version will eventually be available. Quote
Hofmann Posted March 24, 2011 at 10:39 PM Report Posted March 24, 2011 at 10:39 PM FYI, CantoFish has Pinyin and a bigger dictionary. Quote
yaokong Posted April 7, 2011 at 02:02 AM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 02:02 AM Hofmann, thanks a lot, CantoFish works great! Quote
creamyhorror Posted April 7, 2011 at 02:41 AM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 02:41 AM Is CantoFish's dictionary updated regularly (i.e. at least more than once a year)? It sounds good, looks like it's time for me to upgrade to FF4. Quote
Hofmann Posted April 7, 2011 at 03:07 AM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 03:07 AM I don't know. CantoDict is edited at least a few times a day, but you'll have to ask the CantoFish guy for how often he incorporates new CantoDict data. Quote
creamyhorror Posted April 7, 2011 at 08:57 AM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 08:57 AM Oh, I thought the dictionary data was mostly from CC-CEDICT and Adsotrans, which I understood to be general Chinese/Mandarin resources. The page doesn't mention CantoDict as a source of definitions, but only as a source of pronunciation data. Anyway I'll give it a try when I upgrade to FF4. Thanks for the pointer. Quote
Hofmann Posted April 7, 2011 at 03:02 PM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 03:02 PM Now that you say that I'm not sure. I'll have to ask him next time I see his activity. Quote
