jbradfor Posted March 26, 2011 at 06:06 PM Report Share Posted March 26, 2011 at 06:06 PM I was doing fine up until the last two characters.... 当你背上行囊卸下那份 -- take out of your backpack that.... 荣耀 -- ?? I don't think "honor and glory" makes sense here. hudong. com says it's also a computer game?
blackmeow Posted April 6, 2011 at 07:30 AM Report Share Posted April 6, 2011 at 07:30 AM All right, here it comes, you ready? by grammar let's find the core of this line. 当你背上行囊卸下那份荣誉,the nouns of this line are: 你(somebody, which in this case:you), 行囊(backpack), 荣誉(honour). backpack and honour is 'what happened to' somebody. and the verbs are 背上:carry it up, 卸下:put it down. so 'what happened to' backpack and honour? backpack was picked up and honour was throwed away. and the catch here is the '那份', here in this line, 那份 means ‘the’ or 'that' so the translation will be: when you pick up the backpack and throw away the/that honour. also, backpack here is not just a backpack, it is a symbol of 'practical work' or 'carry on' so the real meaning of this line will be: forget about the honour and just carry on! hope it will do some help. New Members Eric Zhou Posted April 27, 2011 at 01:57 AM New Members Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 at 01:57 AM It is an escapism phrase. 行囊 means your backpack for the travel,as above people translated. However,荣耀 means "your social achievements and responsibilities".It is not a game. In all,the phrase means "pack your backpack and go for a long travel, and forget your worldly things."
