为什么中国人不把鸡视为鸟？

我也不会说鸡是鸟，就像不会说老虎是猫一样。英语里cat可以解释为“猫科动物”，但中文里我们说“猫”想到的就是作为宠物的猫，而不是猫科动物。鸟也是，想到鸟肯定是想到会飞的动物，像麻雀、鹦鹉、鹩哥、画眉、喜鹊这样在花鸟市场能买到的。
