Chinese names.

MeiTian, could you share with us the reason you keep asking about Chinese names? I note that you have started four threads on Chinese female names and I am just curious why you are so interested in different female names. Have you not found the right names for you and your sister yet?

I don't know if this is applicable to Chinese, but in Viet Nam when you try to pick some old-fashioned name, often times if you aren't really familiar with the language you'll end up with a name that sounds like it came from a martial arts movie or sounds like what would be called "hill billy" or "redneck" in America.

For example, Tianlong is just complete "country bumpkin" status in VN (at least IMHO).

How about Jin1 Hui4? I like this name a lot. 金惠 (although I'm rather apathetic about Jin1, I do really like Hui4).

I think that 清心 is a very pretty name.

Skylee, I don't know if this is your intention or not, but I found the tone of your previous answer to my post quite, frankly, offending.

I have most certainly found myself and my little sister our chinese names. But the reason that I posted, as you have kindly noted, four threads on the same subject is simply because I am very interested in the way Chinese people translate their own names. I'm fascinated when I realise that the two chinese words which, in my point of view, seems to have just a simple connection, turned out to actually meant much more than that. And the reason that I keep asking about female chinese names is because I love the tender and beautiful meaning the names seemed to convey.

I love to study the names of siblings, because I love the way the names always have one same chinese character in them and I was amazed by the way that, with just one different character, their names could have meant either the same, or totally the opposite.

It's very different from the way we westerners named our children.

And, frankly, I've never specified in any of my posts that YOU need to answer any of my questions. So, if you don't feel like it, you don't even have the necessity to view any of them, much less typing an answer.

I hope this post will suffice your inquiries.

And, LyYenKhang, thank you for your answer.

Well, from my perspective, both names are ok,although i have to say '珍' is a little out of fashion now.Personally,i like '露' much more. Not only does it represent 'dew' literally, but also it reminds people of clean, beauty and nature feelings. So,'露露' is also a good name as a female name.

On the other hand,I agree with LyYenKhang, that '清心'is a very pretty name.
