LA Guy Posted April 2, 2011 at 03:12 AM Report Posted April 2, 2011 at 03:12 AM Thanks for the interesting video on metacafe website on people living in Hong Kong. I truly wonder how important the Cantonese Chinese translation is ( excluding academic / grammatical study ) since, I have never met a Cantonese speaking Chinese who can read Chinese and who could not understand the Mandarin Chinese subtitles. So, if this for Mandarin speaking Chinese who want to better understand Cantonese grammar ? I would love to see the Cantonese Yale Romanization underneath the Cantonese subtitles. Is their a way to export the Cantonese text information from the metacafe video ? I believe people use something called SRS to get the subtitles ? Is their a Cantonese Chinese transcript of the video ? Once, you get the Cantonese Characters in a word document, how would you translate to Yale Romanization ? Many Thanks, LA Guy Quote

gong mo tai Posted April 8, 2011 at 04:17 PM Report Posted April 8, 2011 at 04:17 PM Hi LA Guy, You asked: "Once, you get the Cantonese Characters in a word document, how would you translate to Yale Romanization ?" I don't know about Yale, but you can get the Jyutping romanization by using the tool here: http://www.zhongwenlearner.com/Tools/Annotation Just select the input style, choose "Cantonese - Jyutping" for phonetic system, paste the chinese text and hit "Go" Hope this helps.
