Kenny同志 Posted April 6, 2011 at 04:50 AM Report Posted April 6, 2011 at 04:50 AM I was asked by a friend of mine to translate a sub-title of her thesis. Here it is 县级政府对企业的监督与支持 My translation County Government As Supporter and Supervisor of Local Companies I am not quite familiar with the practice of thesis writing. Am I supposed to use articles in it? Can my translation be made better? Thanks for your help. Quote
aristotle1990 Posted April 6, 2011 at 05:02 AM Report Posted April 6, 2011 at 05:02 AM Articles will generally be fewer than in standard writing. What you have there is a fine sub-title. 1 Quote
fanglu Posted April 6, 2011 at 06:26 AM Report Posted April 6, 2011 at 06:26 AM I would write "County Government As Supporter and Supervisor of Business". I don't see anything suggesting it is only talking about local companies, so I removed the word local. I also replaced companies with business because I understand 企业 to include things other than companies, for example farms and banks. 1 Quote

Lu Posted April 7, 2011 at 01:17 PM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 01:17 PM I'd also use 'county-level' rather than just 'county'. 1 Quote
