madik Posted April 6, 2011 at 10:52 PM Report Posted April 6, 2011 at 10:52 PM Hello everyone, My close friend is getting married in June in Toronto (They are not Chinese.) and since I will be in Beijing until the end of June, I can't attend their wedding. I want to send something that is unique to Beijing (or China) and any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. I am trying to avoid something that is heavy or fragile (thus easy to be damaged when handled)and can be found in Beijing. Thank you in advance! Quote
xianhua Posted April 7, 2011 at 06:11 AM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 06:11 AM How about a Chinese knot (中国结)? These are often given to the happy couple and range in size from conventional to the absurd. I'm sure Beijing will have several dedicated shops. Pretty much always in red and often contain some auspicious characters. Quote
rezaf Posted April 7, 2011 at 06:44 AM Report Posted April 7, 2011 at 06:44 AM just send them some money in a red envelope and tell them that this is the traditional culture of China. Quote
