cliveloughlin Posted April 8, 2011 at 09:09 AM Report Posted April 8, 2011 at 09:09 AM Hi guys I have a question about the Distinguished International Students Scholarship/优秀外国留学生奖学金 application process. Firstly, let's just clarify: I'm a British student graduating from BNU this summer with a Bachelors. I want to continue studying for a MA in Chinese (also at BNU) and am eligible to apply for the 优秀外国留学生奖学金. This is clear - I have discussed my situation with the uni international students office. My question is as follows: The application form states: "申请人所属国驻华使馆出具的,同意申请人申请该项奖学金并说明未将其纳入两国政府互换奖学金计划名额的官方照会"; I need to provide an official letter from the British Embassy stating that this scholarship is different from other scholarships that exist between the UK & China and that they agree to let me receive it. However, I have called the British Embassy in Bj several times but they have absolutely no knowledge of this whatsoever. They keep passing me around and I can't seem to get any answers. Are there any British students out there who have successfully applied for this scholarship? If so, how did you persuade the Embassy to write the aforementioned letter? Is there a specific person who understands this process? If you're not British but have also been through this process with your Embassy were they able to provide a certification? Roughly what did it say? Was it on Embassy headed paper? I still have a few weeks before we need to submit the materials, but I'm worried that the Embassy will make a big deal out of this and, therefore, delay my application! Any help would be greatly welcomed! Happy weekend Clive Quote
