DespikableMi Posted April 11, 2011 at 06:00 AM Report Posted April 11, 2011 at 06:00 AM Are there any keyboard designed for typing Chinese? I am looking for a keyboard with diacritic (tone mark) keys printed on them. It would be nice if the keyboard has Wubi strokes printed on the letters also as I'm learning Wubi Shurufa. Quote

edelweis Posted April 13, 2011 at 07:10 AM Report Posted April 13, 2011 at 07:10 AM @Mi: how about selecting a user name that will not have people feel guilty when addressing you? Regarding diacritics: if you find a keyboard with those, you will also need the corresponding keyboard mapping for the OS you are using it with... (i.e. the keyboard should be sold with a software, because I am not aware of a widely used keyboard mapping with pinyin diacritic marks). Regarding Wubi: there are lots of implementations of the wubi keyboard mapping so you should be able to just buy any keyboard with the wubi mapping (just make sure it's not really for another shape-based IME). But personally I find it useless - what's learning a hundred or so shape-to-key associations when you aim to learn a language with hundreds of characters? Also wubi keyboards often have only the main shape printed on each key, not the full list of shapes for that key. Quote
