马盖云 Posted April 17, 2011 at 01:31 AM Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 at 01:31 AM 你依然正在远避我吗? ni3 yi1ran4 zheng4zai4 yuan3bi4 wo3 ma? This is my best guess based on limited information given. Is this shunning more of an emotional or physical avoidance? What did you do to this poor girl? We need to know these details! BTW, Pinyin has no 'g' in it (pingyin). And the numbers represent the tones, in case you are not familiar with that.

Kenny同志 Posted April 17, 2011 at 03:09 AM Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 at 03:09 AM two other alternatives 你还在躲我吗? 你是不是还在躲我? 回避 and 躲 are very similar in meaning, but there are subtleties that are hard to tell. As a native speaker, I prefer 躲 to 回避. I made some sentences that you may find helpful in your understanding the subtleties. 天蓝,我知道你是个好律师,也相信你的专业操守,但是被告是你朋友,所以,我认为你最好还是回避(躲 is not desired here))一下,这样对你们都有好处。 Tianlan, I know for a fact you are a good lawyer and principled professional but as the defendant is your friend, I think it will be good for both of you if you stay out of this case. 不要回避(躲 doesn’t sound good here)我的问题。 Answer my question. Don’t shun my question. A and B have some misunderstanding but both are C’s friends. One day, A paid a visit to C and when they were shooting the breeze they heard B talking outside the door. “He’ll be here”, said A to C upon hearing B, “so to avoid embarrassment, I’d better excuse myself now (to go to another room and stay there or leave the house to shun B ).
