Quest Posted December 1, 2004 at 11:10 PM Report Share Posted December 1, 2004 at 11:10 PM Can you give us the whole sentence?
studentyoung Posted December 2, 2004 at 01:56 AM Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 at 01:56 AM Dear willm73, “什么天堂可以来?” If the sentence is translated letter by letter, the sentence should be "What kind of heavens can I come/go to?" Yet, I agree with Mr. Quest that if you want us to translate the sentence more accuratly, you should give use the contexts. Thanks!
willm73 Posted December 2, 2004 at 02:33 AM Author Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 at 02:33 AM I just looked at an email that a Chinese Professor sent to me regaurding the quote and got she the same interpretation as I did. What we got was "What Heaven May Come" However, the rest of the quote in english is "is an acceptance of Heaven's will. In other words, whatever Heaven has in store for us we accept"

trevelyan Posted December 2, 2004 at 08:37 AM Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 at 08:37 AM Reads like a rhetorical question.
xiaoxiajenny Posted December 2, 2004 at 09:28 AM Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 at 09:28 AM I guess it probably means that 是天意的话就要勇敢的接受--要听从上天的安排. 冥冥中自有天意.
willm73 Posted December 2, 2004 at 08:31 PM Author Report Share Posted December 2, 2004 at 08:31 PM I just wanted to make sure that that particular quote could stand by itself without the context of the rest of it. I thank everyone for their help, I do appreciate it
