Hello!I'm studying in Beijing at the Shoudu shifan daxue and i was planning to visit with my sister the south-west of China from the 27 of June to the 25 of July, I already know what would I like to see but should i ask for help at a travel agency or is it feasible to arrage everything on my own?

We wanted to see (in order) Tibet,Yunnan,Guilin, Yangtze river,Chengdu, Xi'an. Iknow that we'll have to skip something since it's a lot of places for just a month's time, but do you know any travel agency here in beijing that could help me organize such a trip without overcharging?

Do you have any suggetion how to plan for such a trip or where to go?

I live in Yunnan (Kunming) and have been to some of the places on your tentative itinerary. It will probably be difficult to find a "package tour" to all those places, regardless of cost, since they are rather spread out and you only have about a month.

Consider buying the plane or train tickets yourself and limiting this trip to Tibet, Sichuan (Chengdu) and Yunnan. If there's still time, it's not far from Yunnan (Kunming) to Guilin and it can be added on at the end with little advance planning. Tibet requires permits ahead of time and I have not been there.

Thorntree travel forum might be able to give you some additional ideas. I found them useful in the planning of a much shorter trip. See post: “Chongqing, Yangtze, and Wuhan” http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/32135-chongqing-yangtze-wuhan/

As to plane tickets, e-long and c-trip both have an easy to use English interface.

Actually it's better for u to get some information about your destination before you go.

It's better to arrange your tour route by yourself than go to the agency. If you need a guide, just employ someone when you r in the travel place. You can get some information of tour guides on travelchinaguide.com and decide who you like to be your guide when u r in Tibet,Yunnan,Guilin, Yangtze river,Chengdu, Xi'an...You can ask your guide to book hotels/flights or ticket for you.

PS:I live in Guilin. And my best friend Wendy is working as a tour guide here for 4 years,if you wanna travel here and ,just sent me a msg or a mail to sherry198606@gmail.com.And then I will contact her for details.

check out wikitravel.org for some broad overviews.

I believe that travel to Tibet will require a permit and would be easier to take an arranged tour to go there.
