In the phrase: 日就月將, can it mean "Days and months pass" or does 將 connotate progress/advancement/improvement by the day, etc?

Can you say "ri4 ye4 jiang1" to say "Days and nights pass"?

Usually this kind of set phrase should not be played around with unless you really know what you're doing. "ri4 ye4 jiang1" sounds odd, and I guess would be incomprehensible to most people.
