Kribu Posted July 11, 2011 at 06:47 AM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 06:47 AM @Tianjin42 I applied to Tshingua (it was 1st on my CSC list, second was Peking University, but I wasn’t even listed in their list), but I haven't got any news from them. So I still keep waiting but I already start losing my hope It is so nerve racing indeed! Anybody else who applied to Tshingua?
Dr.Haseeb Sattar Posted July 11, 2011 at 10:40 AM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 10:40 AM @Kribu dont be tense dear just wait till end of July.. ;) 1
Marietta Posted July 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM Hey! It can happen that you are sent in a fourth university where you haven't applied... So dont worry!!!
Tianjin42 Posted July 11, 2011 at 12:36 PM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 12:36 PM @Kribu There are still any number of possibilities so don't worry too much. From your mail I gather that 北大 have published a list of successful applicants but 清华 have not. Is this correct? Many of you may be amused to hear that when I went into Tsinghua to register (I don't live too far away) I mentioned the EU window Scholarship and the Government Scholarships generally. They told me that if they get the accepted EU application sent to them from Chinese govt representative in Belgium then they will simply accept them, and that for the other type of scholarships it might be different. Another member of staff then disagreed, suggesting the process was not as previously described. They then qualified this by saying they didn't really know how it all worked and it is actually quite unclear to them - so we're not alone! Good luck. 1
Nick M Posted July 11, 2011 at 01:03 PM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 01:03 PM @Kribu - has Peking Uni posted a list of successful scholarship applicants? Where can I find it. Hoping to be on it. Thanks!!
Brian US Posted July 11, 2011 at 03:18 PM Author Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 03:18 PM Another member of staff then disagreed, suggesting the process was not as previously described. Sometimes it's better to have no information than misinformation.
HappyCSCscholar Posted July 11, 2011 at 03:35 PM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 03:35 PM Brian US@ Agreed. Question for anyone who might know the process - Does the embassy receive packages and merely dispatch to the person who's name is on the package? Or does the embassy have direct conversations/communications with MOE and know the contents of the packages ... or even help prepare the packages? I'm just wondering if there's any possibility for errors or lost packages between China and the embassies? Nick M@ No list that I know of yet...but you can email or call the University directly.
JJThompson Posted July 11, 2011 at 04:38 PM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 04:38 PM Hey friends some universities are releasing the list of persons admitted in batches, i.e 1st batch, 2nd batch are 3rd batch So, dont be discouraged if your name is not in the first list, it might be in the other one god bless us all
Nick M Posted July 11, 2011 at 05:01 PM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 05:01 PM @HappyCSCscholar I already emailed study@pku.edu.cn but they didn't reply - perhaps because it was in English. Can anyone help me compose an email in Chinese? Thanks
JJThompson Posted July 11, 2011 at 05:57 PM Report Posted July 11, 2011 at 05:57 PM Indeed, truely said brian!

xiaomayi Posted July 12, 2011 at 02:27 AM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 02:27 AM I posted the link before, but somehow it has disappeared  Here again the results of Peking University: http://www.oir.pku.edu.cn/Item/4085.aspx 1
doodling Posted July 12, 2011 at 05:46 AM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 05:46 AM In short: (Specifically for Fudan, but could apply elsewhere) If you are not on any list released so far, you could still be accepted in the next wave (and there'll probably will be one) For those who are anxiously waiting and would like any information on the process at all, I give you my research: First wave list for 2011: http://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/new01.aspx?Id=306 What caught my eye was there are about 17 accepted, and Fudan was granted 30 scholarships for this year (http://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/downloads%5Cjxjfp20101124.swf) Why the discrepancy? I went back a year and found 3 list: 7/12/2010 First wave of 16 accepted scholarships for 2010 (all Masters and Doctorates) http://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/new01.aspx?id=263 7/26/2010 All 184 Accepted Graduate Students for 2010 ttp://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/new01.aspx?id=268 7/26/2010 Second wave of 23 accepted scholarship for 2010 (all Masters and Doctorates) http://www.fso.fudan.edu.cn/new01.aspx?id=268 No name appears on more than 1 list. They are all independent of each other so far as I can tell. There's still hope mates for 17 of us at Fudan =] 2
Ewelina Posted July 12, 2011 at 08:16 AM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 08:16 AM Hi, The same situation is in XMU - they informed me that probably there will be second CSC list...so fingers crossed !
laonuo Posted July 12, 2011 at 08:44 AM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 08:44 AM 1) What is your native country? Finland 2) Where did you apply? I sent my application to CIMO (Centre for International Mobility) first, they forwarded it later to the Chinese Embassy in Finland 3) When did you apply? February 2011 4) When was the deadline? February 28th (that was the deadline for CIMO, I think the embassy’s official deadline was April 30th, but Finns who apply through CIMO and get the scholarship will be granted an extra 1,200 € for travel and other expenses) 5) Have you applied for the scholarship before? No 6) What program did you apply for? Chinese Language, one year 7) What schools did you put for your preferences? 1. Zhejiang University 2. Sichuan University 3. Beijing Language and Culture University (now I feel that I was definitely aiming way too high) 8 ) Did you apply for your school of choice beforehand? No 9) What agency number did you use? 2461 10) Where did you get your physical done? Doctor at my university 11) How did you get your documents notarized? I got simple stamps (stating, in Finnish, that the copies are authentic; in the first paper in the pile I wrote an English translation of this) at my University book store, 0.15€ per stamp 12) Where do you get official Chinese red stamps? I don’t know 13) Were you accepted for the scholarship, if you were not then why? I was accepted. 14) How were you notified? By e-mail. 15) When were you accepted/rejected? June 1 (so it took about six weeks for me to receive this) 16) What school and program were you accepted to? Zhejiang Normal University, Chinese Language for one year If I’m not mistaken, seven people in Finland applied for the CSC scholarship, and no one got rejected. Instead of the x-ray and the blood test reports required in the physical examination form, the doctor gave me papers stating that the diseases related to these are extremely rare in Finland. That didn’t stop me from being accepted, but do you think it will become a problem when I apply for the visa? I have read somewhere that since I did the physical in February I will have to do it again nevertheless when I get to China, as it is valid only for six months.
RoyT Posted July 12, 2011 at 09:25 AM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 09:25 AM @ laonuo I applied for Zhejiang Uni. & Sichuan uni. as well (third choice was Nanjing uni.) for 1 year of Chinese language studies, and I must say I second what you wrote, it is aiming way too high! Chances are quite slim I'll get to study in any of those... Glad to see you were approved and even getting 1000+ €...good for you Onnea matkaan! 1
adeel Posted July 12, 2011 at 12:52 PM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 12:52 PM I phoned Peking and Xianmen University which were my 2nd and 3rd choices but both answered that they didn't receive my application from CSC. However they both have already received applications from CSC including applications for few Pakistanis. For Peking University you may call this number 0086-10-62759922 and for Xianmen University you may call on this number 0086-592-2184792. You may communicate with them in english.
Kribu Posted July 12, 2011 at 12:59 PM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 12:59 PM but maybe you were chosen for your 1st choice? Were did you applyed? Maybe you should call to this uni also?
laonuo Posted July 12, 2011 at 06:14 PM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 06:14 PM @RoyT Thank you mate, excellent Finnish too. Somehow I was expecting this, as a European/Western person applying for "merely" learning Chinese. The people on the lists of different schools published so far that I've seen online have been almost exclusively Asian and(/or) those applying for degree studies. But I'm definitely not disappointed, I have a feeling that many of us won't get what they applied for. However, the smaller cities can be cool as well, and I'm sure everyone who gets accepted will have lots of great experiences and stories to tell once a year has passed, no matter where they end up. 1
Dr.Haseeb Sattar Posted July 12, 2011 at 06:19 PM Report Posted July 12, 2011 at 06:19 PM congrats laonuo
