Lu Posted April 26, 2011 at 02:14 PM Report Posted April 26, 2011 at 02:14 PM Apologies if this has been discussed before. I've been using Anki for about a year now, don't have a very big deck I suppose (some 400 cards I think), but I've added all these cards to it and am studying them, so I'd like to keep it. I've been using the online version. Now I wonder, is there a way to download Anki (to use on my phone, I just got a smartphone) and move this existing online deck to the downloaded version? Quote
renzhe Posted April 26, 2011 at 02:24 PM Report Posted April 26, 2011 at 02:24 PM Which smartphone? There are offline versions for iPhone, Windows Mobile and Android, but you can also use the online version from the phone. Syncing the online deck with the offline program should be possible, but I haven't tried it. I'd be really surprised if it weren't possible. Quote
aristotle1990 Posted April 26, 2011 at 03:03 PM Report Posted April 26, 2011 at 03:03 PM Syncing with AnkiWeb is easy to do with the versions of Anki available for Android and Apple's iOS -- I do it regularly. Quote
Lu Posted April 27, 2011 at 02:26 PM Author Report Posted April 27, 2011 at 02:26 PM I have an Android (htc). Aristotle, I'm glad to hear it's possible, can you tell me how? I couldn't find an obvious way on the anki website. Quote
gougou Posted April 28, 2011 at 01:21 AM Report Posted April 28, 2011 at 01:21 AM I'm on HTC as well, and AnkiDroid is one of the main reasons I love my phone. Go to the market, and download "AnkiDroid flashcards". Back when I installed it, you would need to copy your deck manually from your computer to the root directory of your storage card, but I think that got fixed in one of the later updates. So on the main screen of the program, you should be able to do Menu -> Download Deck -> Personal Deck. (Even though that just crashed the program for me when I tried to test it - if that happens for you you can always go the manual route I guess. For this you would probably need the desktop version, so that you have a copy of your deck on your PC - not sure whether you could export it from the online version). Once you have your deck on your mobile, you can either choose "Sync All" from the main screen, or Menu -> Sync once you opened your deck. Let me know if you need help with any of the steps! Quote
JenniferW Posted April 28, 2011 at 10:40 PM Report Posted April 28, 2011 at 10:40 PM Do you know about the Anki form? If you post any sort of question you seem to get very quick answers to sort things out. Quote
tooironic Posted October 16, 2011 at 12:20 PM Report Posted October 16, 2011 at 12:20 PM Does anyone know how to add a pinyin field to flashcards on Ankiweb? I find it much more convenient to review my flash cards on my smart phone but it looks like they don't allow you a field to add pinyin. Quote
