DudeJ Posted May 13, 2011 at 02:37 AM Report Posted May 13, 2011 at 02:37 AM I am a fresh graduate with 2 masters degree and I found a job here in Shanghai. My employer has tried to apply the working visa for me but my application has been declined due to the lack of real work experience. I have worked full-time at my university and I have the school writing me a proof of employment and I have a solid 10 month worth of internship experience as well. I am wondering if anyone can provide me with some information on how to get pass this problem. I have a US passport. Thanks. Quote
jiminchina Posted May 19, 2011 at 05:51 AM Report Posted May 19, 2011 at 05:51 AM what kind of Visa were you applying for, a Business (F) or working (Z) visa? Quote

gougou Posted May 23, 2011 at 03:06 AM Report Posted May 23, 2011 at 03:06 AM How long did you work for? Official requirements are two years of working experience - though if you write your CV cleverly enough, you can pass off internships as work experience, too. Stating that you're a fresh graduate (as you did here) is probably not ideal... If the company employing you has some clout, these requirements tend to be less strict - but given that yours has been denied already, I guess that's not the case. Quote
DudeJ Posted May 23, 2011 at 04:57 AM Author Report Posted May 23, 2011 at 04:57 AM I have worked for 2 years while studying. I had my university rewrite the letter stating that I was working full-time. The application has been resubmitted. However, I just wanted to seek out if there is anything else that I can add to supplement my application. I've been told that my employer hasn't hired a lot of foreigners in the past and they are doing it themselves. Perhaps this is why they are having such difficulties? Quote
gougou Posted May 23, 2011 at 07:10 AM Report Posted May 23, 2011 at 07:10 AM Last time we had a similar discussion, somebody said that the PSB will keep your CV on file, so I'm not sure whether a rewrite will help. But who knows, maybe it's enough just to have somebody else process the application! Quote
DudeJ Posted May 23, 2011 at 09:06 AM Author Report Posted May 23, 2011 at 09:06 AM From what I've heard, students here can't have full-time jobs at their universities and this could be the misunderstanding; while lots of full-time employees at universities can take classes and earn additional degrees as they get discounts. So, I am hoping a clarification from the school would allow for a re-evaluation and hopefully an approval! Are all applications, failed or approved, kept on the record/system? Quote

gulkhalid Posted September 9, 2011 at 04:15 PM Report Posted September 9, 2011 at 04:15 PM I have recently been offered a job in teaching in china. they asked for all my credentials (degrees + certificates + experiences and reference letter). leter on they asked me to do a medical check from the local approved hosiptal which I did and send to them. since my employer have applied and its been more than 2 weeks they haven't received A Work Permit for Aliens issued by the Chinese Labor Ministry/ Foreign Expert's License issued by the Chinese Foreign Expert Bureau. when i called them after 10 days regarding the status update they told me that they have applied and they are still waiting reply from chinese bareau. on the other hand, I have read on web that I usually takes 4-5 working days to get Work Permit for Aliens issued by the Chinese Labor Ministry/ Foreign Expert's License issued by the Chinese Foreign Expert Bureau. hence my question is that how long it usually takes from the employer to get z visa from from chinese foreign expert bureau ? also what are the odds of not getting it ? any one who can help me on this Quote
