my3rdlang Posted May 13, 2011 at 09:04 AM Report Posted May 13, 2011 at 09:04 AM I went to tailor clothes over the weekend & my measurements were: waist- almost 2尺1 (69cm) and hips- pushing 3尺 (at 163-4cm tall & 52kg). About 80-90% of the time, off the rack size 2尺1 waist bottoms are too tight on my hips, so I usually go with 2尺2 and get the waist taken in. With size 2尺1, the inseam length is just nice about 50% of the time. It seems like most of my Chinese friends and colleagues who are around my height & weight have no problems getting off the rack trousers with the waist, hip and length fitting perfectly. However, my chances are below 10%! Do any of you experience this? Do you simply tailor your clothes or keep trying? Often shop keepers at markets get pissed when I try and don't buy (well, it's hard for me to find a decent fit!) Quote
Lu Posted May 13, 2011 at 01:04 PM Report Posted May 13, 2011 at 01:04 PM I give up and buy clothes in my home country, generally. (And it's difficult there as well. Clothes aren't made for actual people, they're made for average people. Those people don't exist.) Although recently I really needed a pair of jeans. Came by a little jeans shop and it was quiet, so with the assistence of the laobanniang I simply tried on pretty much the entire shop. Three pairs kind of fitted, so I just bought all three, hoping that that would solve the problem for a while. Quote
