A girl wrote me a message and i need to translate it but i've failed any attempt till now ... hope that someone here can help me. It's very important! We made a bet, and i don't wanna sing naked in the middle of a full square! The message is: wo xiang kan ni tiao tuo yiwu. Thanks, thanks, thanks a lot! Quote
fanglu Posted May 25, 2011 at 10:55 PM Report Posted May 25, 2011 at 10:55 PM Is the bet that if you can't read it you have to dance naked? Maybe it would be better if we didn't translate it 2 Quote

We made a bet, and i don't wanna sing naked in the middle of a full square!Telling the truth is your downfall! B) I'm pained to see you helpless, so here is another chance for you: (either here or at another forum where you haven't told the truth ), just ask people to convert the sentence into Chinese (= Chinese characters) for you, and then try putting it in Google translation or some similar program, you'll get there eventually. 1 Quote
Hofmann Posted May 26, 2011 at 05:53 PM Report Posted May 26, 2011 at 05:53 PM Why would you bet that? Quote
Tiana Posted May 27, 2011 at 07:18 AM Report Posted May 27, 2011 at 07:18 AM Why would you bet that? Probably from a subconscious desire to flash? Quote
马盖云 Posted May 27, 2011 at 08:40 PM Report Posted May 27, 2011 at 08:40 PM Sounds like you will be giving a naked artistic performance either way. The way I read it, she wants to see you dance naked. So your choice is whether to give her a private performance, or to lose the bet and give a public performance! ;) For us chinese language learners... this is a good example of a separable verb/object form. 跳舞 with a little bit of 脱 in the middle! We will need an update from you! Quote
Tiana Posted May 27, 2011 at 09:53 PM Report Posted May 27, 2011 at 09:53 PM this is a good example of a separable verb/object form. 跳舞 with a little bit of 脱 in the middle! Not really. I think it's the usual V + N ( 跳 + 脱衣舞). Quote
马盖云 Posted May 28, 2011 at 01:09 AM Report Posted May 28, 2011 at 01:09 AM You may be right, I was thrown off by the OP's pinyin spacing. There was not a plausible word for yiwu, so I read it at first as "一舞" as in "跳一舞" so I was thinking of separable verbs like 睡觉, 吃饭 which can be separated. I guess I should not have used the word Object. So I also thought that tuo yi together was 脱衣, which would translate as undress/take off clothes. I see now that 跳脱衣舞 together translates to "striptease" So the OP will really be putting on a show! So for the benefit of the OP here is a translation wo = wǒ = 我 = I xiang = xiǎng = 想 = want kan = kàn = 看 = to see (watch) ni = nǐ = 你 = you tiao = tiào = 跳 = dance (actually 'jump' but paired with wu 舞,means dance) tuo = tuō = 脱 = strip, remove } yi = yī = 衣 = clothes } together, this means striptease dance! wu = wǔ = 舞 = dance } So I assume she meant 我想看你跳脱衣舞!I want to see you dance a striptease dance! :o Why does no one say this to me? 马盖云 Posted May 28, 2011 at 04:13 PM Report Posted May 28, 2011 at 04:13 PM you are that eager?ha- ha I guess not, I suppose hearing 我想给你跳脱衣舞 would be better! ;) But I guess it's better than 请问,图书馆在哪?or 麻烦你,几点钟? I suppose! Quote
cababunga Posted May 29, 2011 at 03:48 AM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 03:48 AM To me it seem like yiwu meant 衣物. 我想看你跳脱衣物 Quote
skylee Posted May 29, 2011 at 08:49 AM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 08:49 AM 我想看你跳脱衣物 I think this is very unlikely. Please see the posts above for reference. Quote
