Friday Posted May 29, 2011 at 04:05 AM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 04:05 AM Anki allows me to type my answer. However, I don't see anyway to type the tonal marks. I tried switching to using the numbering system (e.g. ni3 hao3), but that doesn't help my memory at all, even though I know the meaning of 1, 2, 3, and 4 quite well. I'd like to see the actual marks and be able to type them in. Is there a way? Quote
imron Posted May 29, 2011 at 05:22 AM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 05:22 AM What operating system do you use? If Windows, then Pinyinput will allow you to type Pinyin with tone marks (see my signature for the link). If Mac, then see this thread for something similar. Quote
jasoninchina Posted May 29, 2011 at 09:47 AM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 09:47 AM I believe anki has a plug-in for tone marks Quote
Hugh Posted May 29, 2011 at 12:13 PM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 12:13 PM I think Imron's suggestion is the best. Use the input system on your operating system and enable pinyin tone mark input. Then you can use it in other programs too. How to do this really depends on the operating system. Quote
Ludens Posted May 29, 2011 at 05:30 PM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 05:30 PM In Linux / Ubuntu you can use ibus with the ibus-m17n package to type Pinyin. Quote
Hugh Posted May 29, 2011 at 06:21 PM Report Posted May 29, 2011 at 06:21 PM SCIM (scim-m17n) is also good. Quote
gougou Posted May 30, 2011 at 12:57 AM Report Posted May 30, 2011 at 12:57 AM Second Jason's suggestion, there is a plugin (Pinyin Tools I think it's called?) that will automatically give out Pinyin and definition if you put in the Chinese. Be careful though as the pinyin is not always correct. Quote
