New Members izomax Posted June 1, 2011 at 06:54 AM New Members Report Posted June 1, 2011 at 06:54 AM Hi, can I process change the tourist visa(L) into student visa (X) here in China or can I go to Hong Kong china embassy to change my visa? I received admission letter and JW202 from university, but they say I must go out of the country to apply for student visa. Is there any way of doing processing it here instead of going back to my home country? Thanks. Quote
laowang Posted June 6, 2011 at 09:00 AM Report Posted June 6, 2011 at 09:00 AM You can ask your university to help you to change your L visa into residence permit. It is very easy in Northeast China Universities. You don't to go out of China to change it if you don't like. Quote
darumdarum Posted June 13, 2011 at 04:37 AM Report Posted June 13, 2011 at 04:37 AM did they tell you that you have to leave China? That sounds kind of crazy to have to leave the country just for changing a visa type... Quote
New Members Peeking Posted June 24, 2011 at 12:18 AM New Members Report Posted June 24, 2011 at 12:18 AM I had a friend whose student visa wasnt arranged on time for some reason, so he arrived here in China on a L-visa. After he went to the university, they helped him change it. So like laowang said, you can ask your university, i guess it might depend on what university....(but you cant change it into a residence permit) Quote
Matty Posted June 26, 2011 at 01:46 AM Report Posted June 26, 2011 at 01:46 AM You need to leave to change to a work visa, but you can change from anything to a student visa in China... They like you to spend money... Quote
