Ian_Lee Posted December 9, 2004 at 08:51 PM Report Posted December 9, 2004 at 08:51 PM Just finished watching "New Policy Story" starred by Jackie Chan. Here are my opinions: (1) This movie is much more bloody and violent than I expected. Even though usually Jackie's Asian movies are a little bit more action-prone than his Hollywood films, in the previous "Police Story I & II" produced by Golden Harvest, there were less much violence and some fun were added. But this movie is absolutely unsuitable for kids. (2) All those co-actors in the movie are basically contracted singers and actors/actresses from Emperor. IMHO, they all don't know how to act especially Nicholas Tse. (3) Jackie Chan is obviously getting old in this movie. And like Jack Nicholson, Jackie got someonel whose age can be his daughter as his girl friend in the movie. (4) But the stunt is really amazing. Riding a bike on the outer wall of a 70-storey tall commercial building down (no computer gimmick) is really awesome. Quote
Catdiseased Posted December 9, 2004 at 09:37 PM Report Posted December 9, 2004 at 09:37 PM Yes, the violence in this movie surprised me. Although I didn't watch the former parts yet, I expected some kind of action comedy like the ones Jackie's known for. But the cruleness of the gang, their masks and their behaviour reminded me of "Killing Zoe", dunno if anyone knows that one... Quote
roddy Posted December 10, 2004 at 03:25 AM Report Posted December 10, 2004 at 03:25 AM New Policy Story Nice to see political action films making a come-back. Personally I’m looking forward to ‘Crouching Reform, Hidden Opening-up’ Quote
Yuchi Posted December 17, 2004 at 09:24 PM Report Posted December 17, 2004 at 09:24 PM ^^^ I heard of production for a CTHD prequel, comes out next yearish? I thought it was an okay movie, the violence definitely surprised me, it almost made me wanna grab those delinquents and kill them myself. Quote
Pravit Posted December 17, 2004 at 10:35 PM Report Posted December 17, 2004 at 10:35 PM I appreciate Jackie's regular slapstick stuff, but after the horrid movies he made in the US, don't you think it's quite refreshing? Quote
