character Posted June 8, 2011 at 09:42 PM Report Posted June 8, 2011 at 09:42 PM This book is intended as a supplement to a student's textbooks in the first few years of studying Mandarin. It mainly covers grammar, with some additional material on pinyin, names, time, etc. I'm going through it while my class is on summer break, and am finding it a useful review. It's definitely easier to read than her other Chinese Grammar books (which are also good, just somewhat terse). For a topic there generally are a couple paragraphs of description, then a few examples and a few test questions to try. Recommended if you've struggled with Chinese grammar or just want a review to solidify your knowledge. Paperback, Kindle, and Adobe digital edition versions are available. The Kindle one is poorly formatted (images for Chinese characters and accented Roman letters) but readable. Quote
Gleaves Posted June 8, 2011 at 10:09 PM Report Posted June 8, 2011 at 10:09 PM I've been using it a bit. I am allergic to textbooks, but I find this one swallowable. Amazon has a bunch of look inside pages. Quote
