New Members NYCgirl Posted June 13, 2011 at 02:55 PM New Members Report Posted June 13, 2011 at 02:55 PM Hello everyone! I have a favor to ask. I have a Chinese friend whose birthday is coming up. She very much misses her family in China, and I was hoping to get her something that reminds her of home. I know scent memory is very strong, so I was thinking about getting her some candles or incense that smells like home. Can you recommend scents - floral, fruit, herb, whatever - that remind you of China? Thank you! Quote

xiaocai Posted June 14, 2011 at 01:26 PM Report Posted June 14, 2011 at 01:26 PM Maybe it's because China is not your hometown and you are not a girl and your birthday is not coming up soon and you do not miss your family in China so much? 1 Quote
Meng Lelan Posted June 14, 2011 at 01:53 PM Report Posted June 14, 2011 at 01:53 PM Sandalwood reminds me of a yoga class not China. rezaf you're not taking yoga are you!?! Sandalwood because it was one of the first gifts from one of the first friends I made in China. I absolutely loved the scent and when I missed her I would open the little box for the scent. Quote
rezaf Posted June 14, 2011 at 03:21 PM Report Posted June 14, 2011 at 03:21 PM I took a few classes a few years ago but my body isn't flexible enough for that kind of thing. Anyway to me sandalwood is more like India than china. I actually buy sandalwood very often but haven't seen any Chinese brands so far. It's always from India. However as far as scent goes Chinese tea leaves are what remind me of China. Edit: I don't know if you can find these things over there but good quality "tie guanyin"," pu er tea", "long jing green tea" and different kinds of "flower tea" are all very Chinese in scent and taste. rezaf Posted June 15, 2011 at 01:57 AM Report Posted June 15, 2011 at 01:57 AM You have no idea how inflexible my body is. Once my martial arts teacher tried to open my 胯 using a stick. The stick got broken but my kua didn't open. Quote

imron Posted June 15, 2011 at 02:16 AM Report Posted June 15, 2011 at 02:16 AM You have no idea how inflexible my body is. But I do know how inflexible my body used to be before I started doing regular stretching. Doing 10-15 minutes of stretching twice a day over the course of several months saw me go from not being able to reach halfway down my shins to being able to flat-hand the ground. My 胯 is also inflexible, but there are streches I do to keep it more open than it otherwise would be. The key is to do the right sort of stretching, and to do it regularly over a sustained period of time. Quote
