Exchange student (music) to China ..

I am currently finished with my BA degree in Music performance, and I will most likely start a MA (Masters) in the same field. I would really, really like to exchange to China for a couple of months, no matter how much it would cost. My uni (in Norway) has no previous connection with any Chinese uni., so I must do all the research on my own.

I have found 3-4 universities/conservatories that teach Music and performance (in Chinese), but I haven't seen anything about any jazz/popular music studies, which is my main field, so to speak. I haven't got a too good grasp of the language yet, so I don't think I could participate in any Chinese-only settings, but I am planning on working on the HSK tests so I can get some papers of my skill next year before I (might) go. I realize that music, too, isn't the most common educational area where there are exchange students compared to, for instance, business. I realize that, so there might be a good possibility that such an "exchange program" that I am looking for does not exist at all.

So my question is this;

does any of you good people know any place in China where I could exchange to where they have a MA in Music and performance (with focus on jazz or popular music)? If anyone has any experience in this, whatsoever, that would be fantastic. I guess the main cities I would like to visit are Beijing and Shanghai, but it does not really matter all that much to me; any city would be fine.

Hi,

I don't have any real info on the matter but as a musicology major (MA, in Finland) I've noticed that at least musicology in China and Japan seems to have a fairly different meaning than in the West. Are you more interested in learning Western music in China or hoping for a more Chinese approach to pop and jazz (...what am I saying, isn't it all copied from the West anyway ;) ?
