dreamon Posted June 28, 2011 at 03:14 AM Report Posted June 28, 2011 at 03:14 AM Hello! May I ask two questions: (1) Suppose that one has a 2-entry Chinese L-visa, already used once, and wants to use it again as close to the expiration date as possible. The visa says "ENTER BEFORE X", where X is a date. Does it mean that one can enter on date X-1 but not on date X, and once entered on X-1, one can stay up to 30 days, past the visa expiration date? How about entering on date X? What if a flight is cancelled and one arrives one day late? Can one be refused entry on date X-1 (X-2, ...) because the visa is too close to expiration? (2) [That's off-topic for the entire site, never mind an L-visa question. Roddy ] Thanks! ---- Re Roddy: I think that deleting my words was not polite, given that they were not offensive or harmful to anyone. As for their relevance to the site - there is some: for me, English is a mediator between my own language and Chinese, I need a thesaurus to better communicate with my Chinese friends, and an encyclopedia to look up Chinese names (of historical importance), regions, rare words used by Chinese English speakers or when talking about life in China etc. in the absence of internet access. Re Dreamon You're welcome to start a topic in General Discussion. Even if it is tangentially relevant to the site, there's absolutely no way it's relevant to the visa forum, or a discussion about L visas, and there's very little chance of getting a decent answer. Also, this is a hideously inefficient way of communicating. Quote
fanglu Posted June 28, 2011 at 03:45 AM Report Posted June 28, 2011 at 03:45 AM I can only answer some of the questions sorry: and once entered on X-1, one can stay up to 30 days, past the visa expiration date? Yes. The X is only the date for entering China, and has nothing to do with how long you can stay. What if a flight is cancelled and one arrives one day late? If you arrive after the date X (and possibly on, not sure about that) you won't be let in. I doubt they will care much why you are late. Actually, most likely the airline won't let you board. Can one be refused entry on date X-1 (X-2, ...) because the visa is too close to expiration? No. Edit: I *think* you can not enter on date X, but am not totally sure Quote
