Haiping Posted June 28, 2011 at 10:15 PM Report Share Posted June 28, 2011 at 10:15 PM Is there a QQ app that's easier for English speakers to navigate. Or one that you recommend? Anyone use any of them? Haiping
Lost in Mong Kok Posted June 29, 2011 at 02:23 AM Report Share Posted June 29, 2011 at 02:23 AM I think they are developing an English version of their mobile apps, however, this might not be released soon, if it is even true. I translated some of the menus in the Android version and they should be relatively similar: https://lostinmongkok.wordpress.com/resources/qq_in_english/ I couldn't find any substitutes for the program, but in general it is relatively similar to other IM apps so its only really the settings you'd need help with. geeness Posted June 29, 2011 at 12:14 PM Report Share Posted June 29, 2011 at 12:14 PM Pretty sure I just created a thread about this already. QQ2010 is buggy, but in English. You will have to jailbreak to get it I think, but the file is out there on the internet, if you can make an effort. Use google or baidu. QQ 3.3.0 is the version for QQ2010. You would be as well using the Chinese version of QQ2011 (no English version yet...) - it's easy to navigate, and a few clicks of practice, and you'll understand it. If I were you, I would ignore the buggy 2010 version, just get QQ2011 (search for 'QQ' on apple app store) and you'll at least be started. muirm Posted June 29, 2011 at 07:25 PM Report Share Posted June 29, 2011 at 07:25 PM Interestingly I just read something suggesting Apple is going to integrate important mobile Chinese services into future iOS releases. Note, however, that this report only mentions preset QQ email support, and not QQ instant messaging.
Haiping Posted June 29, 2011 at 07:50 PM Author Report Share Posted June 29, 2011 at 07:50 PM Well, I've downloaded QQ 2011 and a couple of other free programs. I haven't had a chance to mess with them yet. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the response and English translations. lukoktonos Posted July 9, 2011 at 07:06 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2011 at 07:06 PM I really don't like the qq app on my iPad, so I usually just go to the web version http://web.qq.com/ No notifications, but the iPad app never seems to work for notifications for me anyway You can use the little windows inside the webpage to browse as you chat
Sky Harbor Posted July 22, 2011 at 02:04 AM Report Share Posted July 22, 2011 at 02:04 AM I have to use QQ for Pad since my Android phone has an HD screen, and the regular QQ app for Android doesn't take up the entire screen. But I use regular QQ for my iPod Touch.
