I’ve started making short audio clips from the various Chinese stuff that I am watching or listening to. I rip out and cut the audio, make a transcript, and listen when I have a free moment. I’ve been trying to find brief clips (1-3 minutes) that are interesting enough to listen to repeatedly, kind of like a song, to work on 听力. So far, I have collected six clips, see below. I’m aiming to make a clip every week or two. The transcripts for each are included in the mp3 file as lyrics (by the way, the Pleco lyrics reader function is terrific for these types of files). Anyway, I wanted to get thoughts from people here. Do you think others would find these kind of clips valuable and/or interesting? Would others be interested in joining the effort and making it a group project? I think it could be interesting to have a group of people pulling short clips from random sources. Clips below. I've downloaded Chinese stuff from xun6 before, so I added a download link for the clip below, but I can use whatever. (I presume I shouldn't overload the forum with posting these directly). If others have ideas, let me know. Clip and Quiz 1 - Here's a clip from 爱情公寓 (1:20). Have a listen and see if you can answer these without looking at the transcript. Transcript 快到草棚的时候，我看见不远的地方有一大团圆乎乎的白影，我揉了揉眼睛再仔细看，确实不是看花眼了，但是天太黑究竟是个什么东西也看不清楚。我那时候不信有鬼，以为是什么动物，于是就捡了条木棍想把它赶跑。 一片漆黑之中一团白花花的事物，而且还在微微晃动，这究竟是什么东西？不像是动物，可是如果不是动物它为什么会动？ 我虽然不怕鬼怪，但是面对未知的事物的时候，始终还是存在一些畏惧的心理的，不敢抡棍子直接去打。我手中的这根棍子，其实那就是从地里随手捡来的粗树枝。我用树枝轻轻捅了捅那堆白生生的东西，很软…我在捅…突然，在黑暗中听见胖子喊起来了：“啊……干什么？胡八一！你用树枝捅我屁股干什么？” 一场虚惊，原来是胖子白天吃了不干净的果子，晚上闹肚子，蹲在那里拉屎呢，在黑夜里就见他那大白屁股显眼了。 3 Quote

Here is a zip of the transcripts for the clips (the six clips in the first post, two of which I have since posted directly to the board with questions). The transcript for each clip is also embedded in the mp3 file as lyrics. Can you name them? 3. Why does she have second doubts about hiding it in the chicken coop? They do have a U+FEFF as the first character. [OpenOffice seems to do that.] Wonder if that is causing you issues. Or maybe whatever you are using to view them doesn't understand UTF-8? Quote

Let me play around with it later. Maybe I just shouldn't use characters for the filenames. One low tech solution is to just post the transcripts in spoiler tags like I've now done in the above. Quote
