Is it right to combine 怕 (pà) adj. in Chinese?

我怕辣 for example?

Usually it's 我怕..(他的病很严重) I'm afraid that...

I'm afraid not. "辣" is a noun here, short for "辣的XX".

I guess I did not make myself clear. "我怕辣" is no problem, but "辣" here is a noun, not a adj. ("辣"could be either a noun or adj.). So 怕 (pà)+ adj. is grammatically wrong. Note that "怕" is a verb here.

It's a bit complicated, since 辣 is actually a stative verb, which takes the roles of adjectives in Indo-European languages.

So strictly speaking, it's neither adjective, nor noun :D
