jbradfor Posted July 30, 2011 at 03:52 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 at 03:52 AM There is a project over at wikimedia commons trying to create a listing of the structural decomposition of all Chinese characters. Unlike other projects, it doesn't care about the etymology of the characters, or how they used to look, but just focuses on how they are written today. This is what is used by MDBG to show their character decomposition (I'm pretty sure), and also what is used by Tataoba's hanzi search. I just thought it would be useful for mention it for a couple of reasons. It's pretty cool. There are still a number of missing entries, and some errors. It's pretty time consuming to fix them, so I figure that if we all do a couple..... If you have an idea for a website / app that could use something like this, here it is, all under a GFDL license.
