1stopcom Posted July 30, 2011 at 07:03 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 at 07:03 AM I acquired a large silverleaf screen a few days ago and I'm trying to do some background info on it. The details in the painting on the screen are amazing. Any info on the translation would be greatly appreciated. Just need a jumpstart, I like doing research on all my items for their history. Thanks for any help you can offer. I've included links to pictures of the piece and the writing on it. http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af122/101076liz/screen.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af122/101076liz/image201107300004.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af122/101076liz/image201107300003.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af122/101076liz/image201107280004.jpg http://i1000.photobucket.com/albums/af122/101076liz/image201107280003.jpg
Peter2010 Posted July 31, 2011 at 02:52 PM Report Share Posted July 31, 2011 at 02:52 PM 四季图 (four seasons painting) 庚午年冬月写于天京 painted in winter 庚午年(could be 1870, 1930, and 1990. Considering the inscriptions are simplified Chinese, I think it should be 1990.)天京 (= 南京 Nanjing, China).
1stopcom Posted August 7, 2011 at 01:20 AM Author Report Share Posted August 7, 2011 at 01:20 AM Thank you for the help. I took a few new pictures today of the artist's signature. I know it's hard to read but if anything stands out or if anyone knows of any artists from the region it's from that it might match, the help would be greatly appreciated. It's the last piece to the puzzle on this fine piece. Thanks again.
