Scoobyqueen Posted August 2, 2011 at 01:58 PM Report Posted August 2, 2011 at 01:58 PM When I last visited China, I saw people queueing to get other people's supermarket receipts at Carrefour. What is the reason for this? Quote
jbradfor Posted August 2, 2011 at 02:16 PM Report Posted August 2, 2011 at 02:16 PM You actually saw people queueing in China? That is very particular. EDIT: "The spelling "queueing" over "queuing" is typically encountered in the academic research field. In fact, one of the flagship journals of the profession is named "Queueing Systems"." xiaoxiaocao Posted August 3, 2011 at 12:50 AM Report Posted August 3, 2011 at 12:50 AM Often Carrefour will have a 活动 where if you spend over a certain amount you can redeem your receipt and get a free gift. Maybe because of this. 1 Quote
Brian US Posted August 4, 2011 at 02:07 AM Report Posted August 4, 2011 at 02:07 AM The supermarket across the street from me will give you a membership card after you have spent 100元. Roddy is right where it will probably be sold to companies, but maybe to someone who just wants a membership card. Even the parking attendant outside of Zhongguancun's Carrefour will not charge you parking if you give them a receipt. Once I was going to give them a 30元 receipt and they said it wasn't enough to cover the 1元 parking fee, so it's probably not worth much. Quote
