googed Posted August 5, 2011 at 01:06 PM Report Posted August 5, 2011 at 01:06 PM Wenlin dictionary seems to have a lot of grammatical constructions. Here are only those with 从 and, as seen, they are almost all introduced in the following fashion: ◆cons. ① ∼ A chūfā departing from A ② ∼ A dào B from A to B ③ ∼ A qǐ starting from A ④ ∼ A kànlái viewed from A ⑤ ∼ A lái jiǎng/kàn/shuō speaking/viewing/speaking /from consideration of A | ∼ zhè jiàn shì® lái kàn, qíngkuàng Is there a way to get a list of all grammatical constructions from any of the versions of Wenlin dictionary? Jun Yang Posted August 12, 2011 at 06:15 PM Report Posted August 12, 2011 at 06:15 PM There are two mistakes in this entry: “① ∼ A chūfā departing from A” We never say 出发A(chu fa A), "departing from A" should be "从A出发(cong a chu fa)", departing = 出发(chu fa), from = 从(cong) “③ ∼ A qǐ starting from A”, We never say 起A(qi A), "starting from A" should be "从A起(cong A qi)", starting = 起(qi), from = 从(cong) I suggest you to change a dictionary. uchihak Posted September 14, 2011 at 02:19 PM Report Posted September 14, 2011 at 02:19 PM LOL....pwned! Seriously, the Chinese are wonderful people, but sometimes some of them such parochial ideas about their own language and culture.... Quote
adrianlondon Posted September 14, 2011 at 06:31 PM Report Posted September 14, 2011 at 06:31 PM It was just a misunderstanding of the way dictionaries work. He/she failed, but was trying to be helpful. The "rep" system is working here, as the post is marked as being unhelpful. Quote
