pikachu Posted October 26, 2003 at 04:16 PM Report Posted October 26, 2003 at 04:16 PM No reasons this topic is here but I didn't find any place ! I would like to make this train trip and stop at each tourism interesting place. I don't exclude to take some buses. Did someone of you do this trip ? Do you think it would be bad to go during mid december ti mid january ? Would you advice some tourism place ? Do you know some hotels ? I would have around 3 weeks to do this trip, and a student budget (already 600€ to pay for the flight ticket). A last thing, I don't speak Mandarin at all ! Thank you for all advices. Pikachu Quote
beijingbooty Posted October 27, 2003 at 07:53 PM Report Posted October 27, 2003 at 07:53 PM When you get to Shanghai go the extra distance and make the trip to Hangzhou and Suzhou. They are both fairly close to Shanghai and are very beautiful areas with lots of interesting things to look at and do. Quote
Tsunku Posted October 28, 2003 at 12:47 AM Report Posted October 28, 2003 at 12:47 AM The only thing about those times is that it's pretty close to spring festival holidays. On those days, you'll find things pretty dead since people spend them with their families. I'm not sure on the exact dates this year, I think it's earlier than normal, but just take note of them and try and plan around them. If you have any Chinese friends there, they might try and adopt you for the holiday, which can be fun. Quote
skylee Posted October 28, 2003 at 10:22 AM Report Posted October 28, 2003 at 10:22 AM The first day of the next Chinese New Year (Year of Monkey I believe) is 22 January 2004. Quote
