What I suspect is all three words may have a common general usage, in addition to each item with some peculiar sense of its own. If I was in this situation, I'd collect a few samples where they are used and compare between them to see if any difference would emerge. Sorry I can't help at all, but have a Happy Christmas anyway! What I find difficult is sometimes the usage is not so clearcut and the words seem to be interchangeable. Could you (or anyone) tell me if any of the following doesn't feel right? 1. 穿过树林，一片碧绿的湖水呈现在眼前。 2. 穿过树林，一片碧绿的湖水展現在眼前。 3. 穿过树林，一片碧绿的湖水显现在眼前。 Cheers, Quote
