HuShiwei Posted August 29, 2011 at 01:07 PM Report Posted August 29, 2011 at 01:07 PM Has anyone had the pleasure of playing the new Dues Ex game? One of the city's you go to is Shanghai, and its quite funny to play in if you can hear the difference between southern and northern accent's and can read a bit of Chinese. They managed to get a lot right, but you will definitely be getting some giggles from what the street girls are saying, instead of sounding like young girls they sound like the woman that lives next door in her late 30's that probably eats a little too much 五花肉 every time she goes out. feihong Posted August 29, 2011 at 03:31 PM Report Posted August 29, 2011 at 03:31 PM Are you saying there's actual Chinese dialogue in the game? Or is it just stuff being said in the background? Quote
Gleaves Posted August 30, 2011 at 12:49 AM Report Posted August 30, 2011 at 12:49 AM That's cool if they went through the trouble to add in some Chinese voice work. If anyone is adventurous, they could patch the game and play with full Chinese text. I tried to play Deus Ex 1 a few years ago. Unfortunately, it hadn't really aged quite as well as older RPGs. Quote
HuShiwei Posted August 30, 2011 at 01:11 AM Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 at 01:11 AM If you talk to any random NPC on the streets they will most likely speak Chinese, some will speak English and the voice work seems to be a mash up of people with Cantonese accents along with more northern 普通话 accents. It was done quite well I think but most people on the future streets of Shanghai aren't very friendly, but the same was true for the first city Detroit. Quote
