anonymoose Posted December 24, 2004 at 05:16 AM Report Posted December 24, 2004 at 05:16 AM 我还治不了你了 什么意思? Quote
kentsuarez Posted December 24, 2004 at 07:37 AM Report Posted December 24, 2004 at 07:37 AM Here's my guess: Ignoring the hai2 (still) for the moment, 治不了 can mean "can't control", can't handle, or even "can't cure". You didn't provide context, but I don't imagine a doctor would say "I still can't cure you" to a patient, so I'm imagining this is a parent to a child -- 我还治不了你了 "I (still) can't control you". Anyone else? Quote
seagate Posted December 24, 2004 at 11:02 AM Report Posted December 24, 2004 at 11:02 AM kentsuarez's explanation is reasonable, except that with ‘还’and without ‘还’I think they emphasize oppisite meanings. without ‘还’:我治不了你了-->I admit I can't manage you. with ‘还’:我还治不了你了(呢)!(in a threatening tone) You dare challenge my ability to manage you (such a naughty kid)?! xuezhongwen Posted December 24, 2004 at 11:04 PM Report Posted December 24, 2004 at 11:04 PM Here the punctuation and stress are very important, it should be 我还治不了你了 ?! It's a rhetoric question, and it's a dare, so it means you dare that I cannot rule (or manage, or control) you ?! The context would be 我治不了别人,我还治不了你 ? I may not be able to rule other people, but you dare that I cannot rule you?! Quote
