New Members toppy Posted September 1, 2011 at 07:10 AM New Members Report Posted September 1, 2011 at 07:10 AM I have just moved to Harbin from the UK and am looking to teach English on a part time basis. I wondered if anyone knows of a good place to advertise or start looking for work with my mandarin being very limited at the moment. Regards Quote
kdavid Posted September 1, 2011 at 08:21 AM Report Posted September 1, 2011 at 08:21 AM Post fliers on university campuses. There won't be a lot of money there, and you're more likely to get offers for language exchange, but it will give you some options. You can also visit local English schools and tell them you're interested in part-time work. If you don't need a visa, there are a lot of schools which will probably want some help. Quote
roddy Posted September 1, 2011 at 08:26 AM Report Posted September 1, 2011 at 08:26 AM Hang around cafes (does Harbin have a Starbucks yet) being chatty and handing your phone number out a lot while saying 'Oh, and if you know anyone that wants an English teacher . . .'. Also, look at the online classified sites - something like this. And mention it to old ladies near where you live - it'll be all over town by sundown. How did you end up moving to Harbin - marriage or study? 1 Quote
Matty Posted September 1, 2011 at 09:05 PM Report Posted September 1, 2011 at 09:05 PM 新东方 always used to be looking, but it's always safer doing privates in my opinion. I don't do any of it. Just sit in a university dining hall and you'll have 100 new "friends" by the end of the day. Quote
