zhouhana Posted September 4, 2011 at 05:14 AM Report Posted September 4, 2011 at 05:14 AM Hi guys, We're renting an apartment with a washing machine and have managed to wash our laundry by simply pressing the big blue button like our Chinese landlord showed us. However, we're not entirely satisfied with the washing so we would like to know if we can set it manually to wash better. I'm attaching a picture of the machine with the buttons numbered. Please help us translate and also explain what the buttons actually do if it's not obvious. The machine is a Sanyo XQB65-S1033. We haven't been able to find an instruction manual online. Thank you! 1 Quote
edelweis Posted September 4, 2011 at 06:57 AM Report Posted September 4, 2011 at 06:57 AM A Chinese version of the user's manual is attached. Found it there after google search with Chinese locale. I could not find an English version either... You can copy paste page 6 into Google translate perhaps. 11080617075798.pdf 1 Quote
creamyhorror Posted September 4, 2011 at 07:17 AM Report Posted September 4, 2011 at 07:17 AM Off-topic, but I just wanted to say Drupal is cool. I'm moving on to web app frameworks now, though. Quote
roddy Posted September 4, 2011 at 08:45 AM Report Posted September 4, 2011 at 08:45 AM Let's see . . . 1. Water Level 2. Process? 3. Settings / Change Speed 4. Program 5. Start / Pause 6. Amount of washing powder 7. Appointment - ie, a timer 8. Soak 9. Wash 10. Rinse 11. Spin 12. User-set - must be some way to use that to set up a specific program (edit - or maybe to run one of the specific processes, like rinse?) 13. Standard Wash 14. 'Strong' Wash 15. Quick Wash 16. Woolen Blanket 17. Wool. 18. Time remaining 19 Put(ting?) water in for rinse Single easiest thing you can do is probably hooking it up to the hot water system somehow if you can. Off-topic, but nice toes! 4 Quote
zhouhana Posted September 4, 2011 at 09:13 AM Author Report Posted September 4, 2011 at 09:13 AM Thanks so much edelweis for finding the manual and roddy for translating everything. +1! And thanks for the compliment, I'm quite fond of my toes as well. ;) And I agree, Drupal is awesome! Quote
ayanamidreamsequence Posted September 4, 2011 at 12:32 PM Report Posted September 4, 2011 at 12:32 PM Keep in mind washing machines here do not generally use hot water, so this might be one of the reasons for the different quality in wash vs. your expectations. 1 Quote
Lu Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:14 PM Report Posted September 5, 2011 at 01:14 PM I usually add a bucket or two of hot water. 1 Quote
imron Posted September 6, 2011 at 12:05 AM Report Posted September 6, 2011 at 12:05 AM It's much easier just to lower your expectations If you're not prepared to do that just yet, give it a few more weeks and try again 3 Quote
zhouhana Posted September 6, 2011 at 02:05 PM Author Report Posted September 6, 2011 at 02:05 PM Oh, right, the water temperature is probably what does it. I have no idea how to connect the machine to the hot water system, though, so now I've invested in a bucket! imron: LOL! 1 Quote
roddy Posted September 6, 2011 at 02:10 PM Report Posted September 6, 2011 at 02:10 PM If you have an electric hot water tank and it's near the washing machine, you can run a pipe off that to connect up - this has been done in places I've stayed. But if you've got gas hot water, or the washing machine is in the wrong place, it's probably not worth it. You'd need a plumber and your landlord's say-so. Plus, you still can't control the temperature except on the hot water tank, and your washing machine might melt. Quote
imron Posted September 6, 2011 at 02:24 PM Report Posted September 6, 2011 at 02:24 PM But if you've got gas hot water...it's probably not worth it. I actually knew a foreigner who tried doing this himself (not for a washing machine, but to move the shower away from the squatter toilet it was situated directly above), and ended up dying of gas poisoning due to a leak. Definitely not something you want to try yourself. Quote
xiaocai Posted September 6, 2011 at 04:53 PM Report Posted September 6, 2011 at 04:53 PM Chances of gas poisoning should be quite low with LPG. Quote
