raea01 Posted December 27, 2004 at 06:15 PM Report Posted December 27, 2004 at 06:15 PM I was wondering if people in China use ready-made meals as often as people from the UK or US do. Whenever you walk into a UK supermarket there are often 20-30 shelves of ready-made meals ready to be microwaved. I know that alot of people in the UK eat ready-made meals very often and do not cook a meal from scratch. Is this also the case in China? Quote
Cyberian Posted December 27, 2004 at 06:43 PM Report Posted December 27, 2004 at 06:43 PM As often as Angles, i don't think so. Chinese enjoy cooking more than Angles. Chinese people prefer having their food fresh. There are markets that you go and buy live chickens, and they will kill it for you in front of your eyes. Or you can take it home and kill it yourself. I personally don't like these ready-made/TV dinners. They taste awful, and lack taste. There is too much water or moiture after being done in the microwave from the ice. I feel sorry for astronauts, cosmonauts, taikonauts, and spationauts who have to eat like this. Quote
wushijiao Posted December 28, 2004 at 12:11 AM Report Posted December 28, 2004 at 12:11 AM I agree with Cyberian. However, there seem to be tons of new ready made meals sold in Shanghai's thousands of convenience stores. Not to mention, people eat tons of disgusting 方便面, instant noodles. It's only a matter of time until heart disease, obesity and diabetes follow. Quote
