I mentioned on this blog piece a website with exercises showing the Chinese (and also other subjects') level expected of Hong Kong students at different levels.

I've browsed some of the Chinese exercises and found this article of Ji Xianlin's quite interesting. According to the website it is suitable for study by students at F.4 level (15 / 16 years old). Do take a look if you are interested. It might be easier to read this than to read Yu Hua's "To Live".

Thanks for posting. This is good for testing my comprehension of traditional characters which I am learning in parallel to simplified. From a first pass without looking at a dictionary, I'd say this is around HSK 6 level (my guess). I am not sure if it's too much easier than "To Live" though. Both of these are pretty hard for me. In this article, the first section is easier than the second one based on my pass at it. I am going to save it for testing my Chinese at a later / future time when I can answer the questions without the use of a dictionary.
