We have a photo of my ancestors in Hong Kong in 1887 with this vase shown on a shelf. We do not have any idea how they acquired it. Quote
OneEye Posted September 21, 2011 at 11:47 AM Report Posted September 21, 2011 at 11:47 AM If you live near a University with an Asian Languages and Cultures department (or something similar) or an Art History department with a specialist on East Asian art, that might be your best bet for finding out what it was intended for. Or a museum with a strong East Asian collection. Just send an email mentioning you have a Ming Dynasty vase and would like them to take a look at it if they have time. I think that would probably pique their interest. I'd be interested to hear what you find out about it! 1 Quote
