Chinese name with characters 喜 and 智

A reader of my blog is heading to Taiwan to do her student exchange and wants to find a Chinese name for her before going. For some reason she likes the characters 喜 and 智, and if possible would like to use those in her name. Pronunciation of those characters don't have anything to do with how her name is pronounced in Finnish.

Could 喜智 or 智喜 be a suitable first name? Does Chinese parents usually follow any rules when naming their baby?

And what could be a good last name for her? Her real last name starts with 'pan', is there any surname that sounds like that?

Even though I chose my own Chinese name, my Chinese still isn't good enough to give others a name. Thank you so much if you have time to help me!

I think they are ok. Not bad at all. I think 潘智喜 looks very nice. There is a famous senior counsel in Hong Kong whose name is 李志喜 (same pronunciation as 智喜 but with a different character).

Somehow these names sound a bit Korean to me, probably because of the Korean actresses 金善 and 崔友. :D
